Atticus Ronald Shaffer is an American actor best known for portraying Brick Heck on the ABC sitcom The Middle.

He voices Ludo's younger brother Dennis in Star vs. the Forces of Evil.

Personal life

Shaffer was born in Santa Clarita, California, to Ron and Debbie Shaffer. He has osteogenesis imperfecta, a disease involving a defect in type 1 collagen and causing fragile bones. His small stature from this condition allows him to portray a character on The Middle approximately 3 to 5 years younger than his real-life age.

Career

Shaffer's most prominent role is as Brick Heck on the ABC sitcom The Middle, for which he was nominated for "Outstanding Young Ensemble in a TV Series" at the 32nd Young Artist Awards. He has also voiced Albert Glass in Fish Hooks, Edgar in Frankenweenie, Peedee Fryman in Steven Universe, and Ono in The Lion Guard, and he had a brief appearance in Hancock.

Trivia

  • Shaffer is the second regular cast member in The Middle to be cast as a character in Star vs. the Forces of Evil, the first being Eden Sher, who plays Star Butterfly.
