Daron Leah Nefcy is the creator, writer, and executive producer of Star vs. the Forces of Evil. She is the second woman to create an animated series for Disney Channel, the first being Sue Rose, the creator of Pepper Ann, and the first woman to create an animated production for Disney XD.
She also voices additional characters on the show, such as StarFan13, Sabrina Backintosh, Becky and the pixie princess at St. Olga's Reform School for Wayward Princesses.
Early life
Nefcy was born in Los Angeles, California. She studied at the California Institute of the Arts and graduated in 2009. She originally came up with the character of Star Butterfly in her third year of college at the time of Cartoon Network's (eventually cancelled) Cartoonstitute project.
Career
Nefcy previously worked on Wander Over Yonder and Robot and Monster as a storyboard revisionist and on Mad as a graphic artist and designer. She was also a character designer for the 2010 family film Elle: A Modern Cinderella Tale and a director, writer, character designer and animator for the segment "March" in the 2012 comedy anthology film Holiday Road.
