A manticore is a legendary lion-like creature from Persian mythology. A pair of manticores are the pullers of the royal stagecoach.
Appearance
In mythology, the manticores have the bodies of red lions, the head of a human with three rows of sharp teeth, bat-like wings, the tail of a scorpion or dragon, and the voice of a trumpet.
The manticores seen in the show are mostly the same: they have the body of a red lion covered in scales and bat-like wings. However, they have the heads of lions with blue eyes and white manes. They also have a pair of horns at the top of their heads, and a lion's tail instead of a dragon/scorpion tail.
