Interesting seeing the parallels between Marco and the Dojo sensei, but I feel we could've foregone Star's subplot entirely. Again, nothing special.
Yeah it was nice seeing Marco see into his future a bit with Dojo Sensei...but also not, considering is he REALLY a failure? He built a dojo based on charisma and lies alone, he's doing pretty good considering. ALSO-why does he still live with his mom? Dude owns his own dojo, that has STUDENTS, who PAY him, he can live on his own.
Also yeah, the Star sub-plot went NO-where.
Still enjoyed it, but Dojo Sensei is kind-of a weak character.
I do believe this was the first fully Marco-centric episode in the series, with Star's antics clearly being a b-plot. It was great to see him finally advance in his training.
What I think marco's dream symbolizes:
1. Star being feral symbolizes that she has a crush on him and it foreshadowed the jealousy when he went out with Jackie
2. Marco in a suit symbolizes that he might become a minion of toffee
3. Everyone moving on symbolizees that they're going high with their dreams and marco can't move on cause he acts like a practical safety guy.
Some would argue that Marco in a suit plays into the "Marco Is A Trans Girl" Theory, a theory which has tons of evidence, but will probably never be canon. I do agree, however, that Sensei is a weak character. Not only that, but in real life, he would never run a dojo. Marco's parents should find a real dojo- one that say, ISN'T RUN BY A RED BELT. However, keeping him around does allow for hilarious poking fun at both the commercialization of karate and the over-exoticizing of it, so I wouldn't mind a few more episodes with him.
